As for Affirmative Action, I don’t deny for one minute that Black Women are seen by many organizations as a serious “twofer” and are hired on that basis; I know for a fact that A LOT of “titled” Sistas are actually glorified pencil pushers, makeworkers who are there to mollify the Race Hustlers and the Big Govt types. The problem, of course, is that the gravy train cannot last forever – there are already something like half the states in the union who are unable to pay its bills and must relay on the feds to bail them out – how long can that last? And keep in mind, that the bulk of the Black middle class is drawn from the public sector in some way.
6. As for Thirsty Brothas – trust me, one of the major reasons as to how and why Black Women as a group, do what they do, is BECAUSE they know that Black Men, again, taken together as a group, are Thirsty as a you know what and will put up with almost anything to get laid. What Artist @ #44 said about Tiny is 100% correct – it is very hard to see a similar reaction from two prominent White or Asian Men over a similar White or Asian Woman. I mean, think about Miley Cyrus – what prominent White or Asian guys have been seen squabbling over her?
7. Yes, in many ways, Tyrone is in a bad spot, because good Sistas are in short supply, if you only control for kids (I’m not including divorces here) and STDs. I mean, just in terms of numbers, plus the SES situation, there simply aren’t enough Sistas to go around for the Tyrones, and he’s either left with trying to up his Game to appeal to Sistas in a higher class bracket (which as you and others rightly point out, is hardly a guarantor of success), make do with the choices he does have, opt out of the mating game altogether, or go out-country/out-race. And this is something that must be discussed much more in Black relationship circles because it is causing real disincentives for Tyrones – what is the point of playing by the rules and towing the line if this is what you’re left to deal with? It’s something a lot of Sistas don’t want to honestly answer for and understandably so. So we have to keep hammering away until they are forced to do so.
